Frankfurt · Germany
Vedic astrology in Frankfurt, summer offset not the winter one
Frankfurt takes the zone Europe/Berlin in vedic astrology, and daylight saving means a June birth and a January birth do not share the same offset. The birthplace to geocode is still Frankfurt. That seasonal change of offset can change the lagna. A single gap from Indian Standard Time will be wrong in one season, because India never moves its clocks.

The zone name is not the birthplace
Europe/Berlin is the correct zone for a Frankfurt birth. Berlin is not the correct city unless the birth was in Berlin. Both observe daylight saving. Both still need their own geocode. Type Frankfurt and the local time, in the 24-hour form if that is how the record writes it. Do not convert the hour into IST and then select Frankfurt. The chart will apply the German offset to a time that was already moved.
One family, two kinds of clock
A sibling born in India stays on Asia/Kolkata, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with no daylight saving, in the Indian city. The Frankfurt sibling does not join that fixed offset for the sake of a matching spreadsheet. In summer the German offset is not the winter one. Recasting both children 'in IST' so the columns line up gives the German birth the wrong instant.
Houses from the season that happened
Marriage is the 7th house, its lord, and D9. Career is the 10th and its lord. The Vimshottari dasha already running needs the offset that was legally in force on that date, which daylight saving decides. The zodiac is sidereal, Lahiri ayanamsa, Swiss Ephemeris. A free account can generate the Kundli and chat. The season is part of the input, not a footnote.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology use Europe/Berlin for Frankfurt?
Yes. The zone observes daylight saving, so summer and winter do not share one offset. The city to geocode is Frankfurt, not Berlin, when the birth was in Frankfurt.
Can we convert a Frankfurt birth by a fixed amount into Indian time?
No. India does not use daylight saving and Germany does. A fixed gap is wrong for part of the year. Enter Frankfurt local time and let the chart apply Europe/Berlin.
What if the birth fell on the morning the clocks changed?
The record needs to show which offset was in force. An hour can be repeated or skipped on that morning. Do not guess the prettier lagna.
