Boston vedic astrology for an early Eastern birth
Boston vedic astrology is cast on America/New_York, because Massachusetts keeps Eastern time statewide and observes daylight saving. A 5:05 a.m. birth in January uses the standard Eastern offset, and the same digits in July have already been shifted by daylight saving.

Five in the morning does not sit still
The lagna is changing through the early morning. January 5:05 a.m. is Eastern standard time. July 5:05 a.m. is Eastern daylight time. Massachusetts has no county on another zone, so the hour error left to make is daylight saving or a misread certificate. The city to geocode is Boston, not a suburb that only shares the commute.
Lahiri, not the tropical Sun
A tropical sun sign can disagree with this Sun. Lahiri is why. The chain is the Eastern offset, then Swiss Ephemeris, then the sidereal zodiac. Pacific or Mountain habits do not belong on a Massachusetts birth. If a Western app and this Kundli differ by a sign, keep the sidereal one.
Look at the lagna before a PDF

Does all of Massachusetts use Eastern time?
Yes. America/New_York, with daylight saving. Boston does not sit on a second zone inside the state.
Why is 5 a.m. easy to get wrong?
The lagna changes sign through the morning, and daylight saving moves the instant by an hour. Match the offset to January or July as the date requires.
Is Lahiri used?
Yes. The chart is sidereal. A tropical Sun sign can fall one sign away from this Sun.
