Vedic astrology in Bhopal on Asia/Kolkata
Bhopal is a city, Madhya Pradesh is not, and vedic astrology can geocode only the city against an Indian Standard Time birth. The zone is Asia/Kolkata, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with no daylight saving in any month. People who moved away sometimes write the state because the city has gone fuzzy, then later replace even that with the foreign town they live in. Neither substitution is the birthplace.

Capital is still a city name
Being the state capital does not make 'Madhya Pradesh' a valid place string. Enter Bhopal when the record says Bhopal. If the birth was in another town and the family only remembers the state, wait for the town. A guessed capital is a common way to give a relative a chart before the papers arrive. It is also a good way to give them the wrong lagna.
The clock stays put after you leave
A Bhopal birth does not start observing daylight saving because the parents later move to a country that does. The birth offset was Indian and remains Indian. Apply Asia/Kolkata before the Julian day, with Bhopal geocoded. Use the new city's zone only when you are timing something that happened there, or charting someone born there.
Sidereal reading, ordinary rules
Lahiri ayanamsa and the Swiss Ephemeris, sidereal. The 7th house, its lord, and D9 for marriage. The 10th and its lord for career. The Vimshottari dasha already running for timing, with no year invented from the city's history. Free accounts can draw the Kundli and chat. Paid plans add PDF reports, extra divisional charts, and WhatsApp transit alerts.

Frequently asked questions
Does vedic astrology accept Madhya Pradesh as the birth city for Bhopal?
No. Enter Bhopal. The zone is Asia/Kolkata, with no daylight saving. A state name does not geocode to the hospital.
Do Bhopal clocks change in summer?
No. Indian Standard Time is the same offset all year, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes. Daylight saving is not used.
We moved overseas and lost the city, only the state remains. What should we enter?
Do not invent Bhopal to fill the gap. Find the city on the certificate. A chart needs a place that can be geocoded and a time in Indian Standard Time.
