Vedic astrology in Ahmedabad, west of Mirzapur
Spelling Ahmedabad as Amdavad must not split one birth into two charts in vedic astrology. The city uses Asia/Kolkata in every month, with no daylight saving. It lies west of the meridian near Mirzapur, so solar noon falls after 12:00. Gujarati spelling and English spelling are one place. The offset is UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, applied before the Julian day after the city is geocoded.

One city, two ways of writing it
Pick one spelling, enter the recorded time once, and stop. A second chart is for a real doubt: a missing date, a blank a.m. or p.m., a hospital that might have been in another city. It is not for Amdavad versus Ahmedabad. If the family later works in the Gulf, the birth city remains Ahmedabad unless the child was born abroad.
Late solar noon on a national clock
At civil noon the Sun is still short of the local meridian. That follows from being west of the Mirzapur line. It is the same pattern as Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, and the other western cities on that list, and it is not a reason to keep a private Gujarat offset. Asia/Kolkata already is the offset. Geocoding does the rest.

Frequently asked questions
Does Ahmedabad use daylight saving in vedic astrology?
No. The zone is Asia/Kolkata all year. Solar noon falls after 12:00 because Ahmedabad is west of the meridian near Mirzapur. Do not invent a summer hour.
Is Amdavad a different geocode from Ahmedabad?
It should not be. They are two spellings of one city. If two charts disagree, check the time you entered before you treat the spelling as a new birthplace.
We live in Dubai. Do we use Asia/Dubai for an Ahmedabad birth?
No. Asia/Dubai is for a birth in the UAE. An Ahmedabad birth stays on Indian Standard Time, UTC plus 5 hours 30 minutes, with the city geocoded as Ahmedabad.
